Esin Tuncel, M.Sc
scientific assistant
Esin Tuncel obtained her B.Sc in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering in 2022 from Yildiz Technical University, where her research focused on the development of sustainable and eco-friendly phase change composite for thermal energy storage applications. The results of this research were published in the Environmental Science and Pollution Research Journal on Springer Nature.
In 2025 Ms.Tuncel completed her M.Sc. in Materials Science at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, focusing on Biomaterials, Corrosion and Nanotechnology topics. Her master‘s thesis on “ Extrusion printing of dendritic mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles doped ADA-GEL hydrogel scaffolds for bone tissue engineering“ received an award from the Chemical Romanian Society designated for a young scientist. During her master‘s degree, Ms.Tuncel worked in the R&D team of WSAudiology as a working student for 3 years, where she was responsible for the verification and validation (V&V) testing of hearing aids.
Before joining Chair of Microfluidics in September 2026 as a Doctoral Researcher, Ms.Tuncel worked as a Laboratory Intern at Bayerisches Laser Zentrum, where she developed valuable skills in laser additive manufacturing and material characterization techniques.
Since joining Chair of Microfluidics, Ms.Tuncel has been working in the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie (BMWE) funded “Development of a PFAS-free surface coating of AlMgSi1 for medical technology applications using functionalized and laser-structured PEEK” project, carried out in collaboration with Eloxalwerk Ludwigsburg Helmut Zerrer GmbH (ELB) and as a industry partner. The goal of this study is to provide a high-performance, PFAS-free coating that is safe for the environment and human health under the REACH regulations of the European Union, where the use of PFAS is anticipated to be outlawed by 2028.
