Bharath Chodavarapu, M.Sc
scientific assistant
Bharath Chodavarapu obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2018 from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in Kakinada, India.
He received his Master’s degree in Refinement of Polymer and Composite Products from Hochschule Kaiserslautern. His studies focused on additive manufacturing, material and surface characterization of polymers and composite materials, materials science, and mechanics.
During his Master’s studies, Mr. Chodavarapu gained research experience at the Fraunhofer Institute for Casting, Composite and Processing Technology (Fraunhofer IGCV) in Augsburg as an intern, Master’s thesis student, and research assistant. His work focused on metal additive manufacturing using Laser Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB/M), where he was involved in the entire process chain from material and process preparation to post-processing. As part of his Master’s thesis, he investigated the hybrid additive manufacturing of aluminum (AlSi10Mg) and copper (CuCr1Zr), including metallographic characterization and mechanical testing of the manufactured components.
Since March 2026, he has been working as a research assistant at the Chair of Microfluidics at the University of Rostock. His current research focuses on the additive manufacturing of tungsten–copper (W–Cu) components using the Composite Extrusion Modeling (CEM) process, particularly on the development and optimization of printing parameters for this material system.
