Alexander Ahrend, M.Sc.

Alexander Ahrend studied business and technical engineering at the University of Rostock focused on production, automation and materials science. He successfully completed his studies in January 2020 with the master thesis “Investigation and Optimization of Postprocessing for additive manufactured parts made of PIM injection molding granulate” at the Chair of Microfluidics.

During his studies, Mr. Ahrend worked as a research assistant at the Fraunhofer IGP Rostock. The focus of his activities was the project “Aluminum self-pierce riveting during the final assembly of an aircraft” in cooperation with Airbus Hamburg. He gained practical experiences in concept planning and industrialization of CFRP- / GFRP-components for automotive engineering because of two internships at the BMW Group Leipzig and Landshut. Parallel to his studies, Mr. Ahrend was involved in the VWI University Group Rostock and was responsible for the cooperation with regional industrial partners.

Since march 2020, Mr. Ahrend has been working as a scientific assistant at the Chair of Microfluidics. He is involved in the research project “Development of a high-speed large capacity printer for processing ceramic feedstock in the CEM process” and is responsible for the feedstock development, production and experimental implementation.
