Dr.-Ing. Christoph Drobek

Scientific assistant

Christoph studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Rostock from 2005 to 2011. He focused on Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics and especially Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). From September 2008 to February 2009 he spent a semester in London, UK to complete an internship at Delphi Diesel Systems, London and work on a model to predict cavitation in a high pressure valve of a Diesel injector using the CFD code ANSYS FLUENT. In his Diploma thesis „Simulation of cyclical fluctuations in a real engine geometry“ Christoph analysed the in-cylinder flow fluctuations by performing LES simulations using the Open Source CFD-Code OpenFOAM.

At the chair of Microfluidics Christoph worked on the numerical simulation of multiphase flows and cell-laden flows (using both RANS and LES) and the laser-optical 3D3C measurement of flow velocities using Particle Image Velocimetry (both Micro-Stereo-PIV and Tomographic PIV).

Christoph works also at the development of prototypes for the collagenase-free separation of fat and stem cells and at the development of an apparatus that is able to expose human cells to shear stress.
